Rowing Summer Camp

One week sessions
$400 per session, 10% discount if you sign up for both weeks or 10% discount for groups of 4. For group discounts, call the office at 508-757-2140.

This camp is an introduction to sculling (rowing with 2 oars) on Lake Quinsigamond. It is the perfect place for participants that have little to no experience rowing and are looking to learn a new skill. Kids will start by learning in 4s or 8s then working their way into a double.

The goal of this program is to introduce the basic mechanics of rowing, provide foundational skills, and build familiarity with boathouse life.

It’s perfect for people of all fitness levels does not require any previous rowing experience, and is intended to be very hands-on.

Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm, rain or shine.

8:00     Introduction to the day rowing skills
8:30     Land practice using ergs
9 – 11   First water session
11-12     Lunch
12:00    Techniques about rowing with as a land talk & demonstrations
12:30 -2:30 Second water session
2:30 – 3 Debrief on the day’s activities and plan for the next practice

Prerequisites: Participants must be rising into 9th grade to a recently graduated high school student. Students must be able to swim 75 yards, tread water for 3 minutes and put on a life jacket in the water.

Lake Quinsigamond Community Rowing (LQCR) fall program is open to all, experienced rowers and scullers as well as beginners (novices) in the Greater Worcester Area.  Current LQCR athletes come from cities and towns such as Ashland, Auburn, Hopkinton, Sterling, and Worcester. Varsity Athletes will be rowing in singles and double, practicing toward the Green Mountain Head (9/29) and the Head of the Charles. Varsity Athletes will also row fours (4+). Novices will start rowing in quads, possibly progressing to doubles.  The program will be coached by Coach Wright and other LQCR Staff.

LQCR Yearly Admin Fee: $60 (Includes USRowing Membership)
